Oil Lifter

Oil Lifter Technology for Submersible Pumps

The Oil Lifter is an advanced lubrication device designed by Tsurumi Manufacturing to improve the performance and durability of the mechanical seal in submersible pumps. It uses the centrifugal force generated by the rotating shaft seal to actively supply lubricating oil to the upper seal faces, even when the oil level drops below the recommended volume.

This simple yet highly effective system ensures continuous lubrication and cooling of the mechanical seal, helping to stabilise seal performance and significantly extend inspection and maintenance intervals.

How the Oil Lifter Works

Developed by Tsurumi to enhance the longevity of its submersible pumps, the Oil Lifter addresses one of the most critical challenges in pump operation—maintaining consistent lubrication of the upper seal faces over long operating periods.

By utilising centrifugal force, the device lifts oil to the upper sealing surface, ensuring both upper and lower seal faces remain properly lubricated. This results in improved cooling, reduced wear, and enhanced mechanical seal reliability.

Even under low oil conditions, the Oil Lifter continues to supply lubrication effectively, protecting the sealing system and reducing the risk of premature failure.

Key Benefits of Oil Lifter Technology

  • Improves overall pump reliability and operational stability
  • Extends mechanical seal life expectancy
  • Reduces maintenance frequency and associated downtime
  • Lowers spare parts and long-term operating costs
  • Maintains effective lubrication even in horizontal pump operation
  • Enhances cooling of mechanical seal faces for improved durability
